Courtroom sketches for Undercover, the Netflix original series
Fictional drawings, to promote the episode in which drug lord Ferry B. needs to appear before the law. Digital illustration, made in Procreate.
To find the right pose and facial expression, I tried out several compositions. Above, you can see a selection from my creative process.
I was asked, as a courtroom artist, to draw fictional sketches of the hearing of Ferry B. He is the druglord in Undercover, the Netflix original series. The name of the male Dutch actor you see featured here, is Frank Lammers (a lot of people in the Netherlands might recognise him). My sketches were used in the promotion of Season 2 Episode 9, in which Ferry has to appear before court. Courtroom drawing is an interesting tradition; my art functions as visual journalism, is published through media normally.
I was not present on set during the recordings, the drawings were based on photos and videos. I was very honoured to make these. I was asked to make these on behalf of the marketing agency that handles such fun clients. As I work digitally, I was able to provide moving images as well (the timelapse drawing).
